Yala Park is the larges national park in Sri Lanka. It consist of two main rivers flow through the park

About 32 species of mammals, 125 species of birds and many reptiles and lagoon fauna species have been recorded in the park. The vegetation ranges from open parkland to dense jungle.

 

Elehpant Rides

Elephant Ride is an wounderful experience to have in Sri Lanka. There are onlya few places to do elephant rides. One place is in Pinnawela near the elephant ophernage and the other place is in Habarana with in the Culturall Triangle.

Whale Watching

Since the continental shelf is at its narrowest close to Dondra Head, Sri Lanka.s southernmost point, the deep water provides ideal feeding ground for migrating whales from November to April.

There is 95% chances of spotting Sperm Whales and great chances of spotting Blue Whales as their migration path is just off Dondra Point. We are able to arrange Whale Watching Trips off Dondra Point in a fully insured trawler boat which will last for 3 hours. Also there are good chances of spotting Spinner Dolphins also off Dondra.

 

Dolphin Watching

Sri Lanka is one of thre best places in the world to see Dolphins. Dolphin watching is a seasonal activity in Sri Lanka, available on the west coast in locations from KALPITIYA and along the SOUTH WEST COAST from November to March while the east coast off TRINCOMALEE is preferable from June to September.

Kalpitiya is the best places for seeing Dolphins. At a time you can witness 1000-1500 Dolphins. We can arrange accommodation in basic holiday cottages to nice beach villas in Kalpitiya area or get boat from Negombo and proceed to Kalpitya by sea.

 

Surfing

Sri Lanka is a great place to surfing. The best surf points in Sri Lanka are located on the South and East Coast with Hikkaduwa and Arugam Bay being the busiest, but there are many “secret spots” like Unawatuna, Ahangama, Weligama, Mirissa or Yala where you still can find uncrowded surf.

The gentle swell of the Indian Ocean waves offer many opportunities for surfing. Arugam Bay on the east coast is the island’s top surfing location. For its spectacular scenery and challenging breaks it is well worth the long journey. The south coast has many secluded spots sited fairly close together allowing you to base yourself in one place and be able to try them all.

The surf in Sri Lanka is there on the whole south coast. there are heaps of places that pick up the swell and provide good quality waves, if you want the good stuff you will have to go in season Jan/Feb. Sri Lanka is average in all departments, the surf the people the vibe everything.

 

Wind Surfing

Wind surfing can be carried out at many places along the coastline from Negombo to Tangalle. Bentota is the unofficial water-sports capital of the island because aside from its gentle rolling surf and beautiful sandy beaches, it also has a river where beginners can gain valuable experience before heading into the ocean.

There are many water sports centers at Bentota offering windsurfing facilities, such as the hiring of boards and sails. The Club Inters port and Sunshine Water sports Center are the main ones. The latter is the only VDWS-certified surf school in the island, providing the training and professional certification of windsurfers. Incidentally, VDWS is the main windsurfing training facility in the world.

 

White Water Rafting

There is no better or more exhilarating way to discover Sri Lanka's spectacular scenery than white-water rafting down a majestic river. For instance, join the boulder-strewn and picturesque Kelani Ganga (river) above Kitulgala and navigate name-chilling rapids such as Killer Falls and Head Chopper.

The higher-grade rapids of the Sitawaka Ganga and the icy depths of the elevated Kotmale Ganga between Hatton and Nuwara Eliya provide experienced rafters with more of a challenge, while both black-water rafting . carried out in the night three days prior to or after a full moon (poya) day . and white-water kayaking, lend an even more thrilling angle to the sport!

Water skiing, banana boating and jet skiing can also be enjoyed in the calm water of the Bentota River and these fun activities offer excitement for all ages and any skill level. Trincomalee on the east coast offers a fantastic alternative for windsurfers when the south-west monsoon brings strong winds and rough seas.

Trekking and hiking

The hill country offers some of the best terrain and scenery as trails wind through dense forests, up steep mountains, past flowing waterfalls, between fields of tea and through clear rivers that offer a cooling dip. In addition, the paths within the Cultural Triangle offer hikers a chance to abandon the beaten track and discover little-known temples, uninhabited jungle and archaeological remains.

Horton Plains , at an altitude of 2,134m, has a refreshing climate and a variety of walks through unusual high-altitude vegetation. The trek past Baker.s Fall to the dizzying 880m escarpment of World.s End is memorable, and scaling the holy mountain of Adam.s Peak (Sri Pada) is a physical and spiritual experience. The Knuckles Mountain Range is a delight as scenic trails wind through five major forest formations offering hikers the unique opportunity to see a variety of rare and endemic flora and fauna. Nature lovers will also enjoy the Sinharaja Forest Reserve whose biodiversity makes it one of Sri Lanka's seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
